Dr. Unrau is the recipient of the Karl B. Schultz Faculty Scholarship Grant at Bluffton University for 2013-15. Her research topic is titled: Social Justice as Viewed through the Lens of Arts Advocacy. This project focuses on researching and studying data on effective arts programs in the US and specifically Ohio, particularly in secondary settings, for students of varying socio-economic backgrounds. By studying the positive aspects of arts education on student outcomes it will be possible to generate approaches to advocacy not based on anecdotal evidence, but on recent research that shows that arts education results in tangible educational outcomes for all students.
